Greeting friends from New York's West Side Comprehensive Chiropractic Care where we strive to not only deliver effective pain management solutions, but where we hope to help you avoid pain altogether via education. Today, we’re here to talk to you about postural correction and how good practices at the office can help you lead a pain free life.

Ergonomics is the study of designing equipment and environments to fit the needs of the user. In the workplace, proper ergonomics can help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and improve overall comfort and productivity. The following are some tips we gathered for maintaining proper posture during work:

Use an adjustable chair: A chair that is too low or too high can cause strain on the back, neck, and shoulders. An adjustable chair allows you to find the right height for your desk and workstation.

Adjust your desk and monitor: Your desk and monitor should be at a height that allows you to maintain a neutral spine position. This means your feet should be flat on the ground and your knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle.

Take breaks and stretch: Prolonged sitting or standing in the same position can cause strain on the muscles and joints. Take regular breaks to stand up, stretch, and move around.

Use a headset or speakerphone: Holding the phone between your shoulder and ear can cause strain on the neck and shoulders. A headset or speakerphone allows you to keep your hands free and maintain good posture.

Use a document holder: If you need to refer to a document while typing or working on the computer, use a document holder to keep it at eye level. This can help reduce strain on the neck and shoulders.

Consider using a standing desk: Standing desks allow you to work while standing, which can help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and improve circulation.

By following these ergonomics tips, you can help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and improve your overall comfort and productivity at work.
